The Benefits of Using 14meters

So you kind of know what 14meters does. But why should you care? How will this thing help you?

Becoming a Better Fencer

The Online Fencing Journal is here to help you become a better fencer and a better coach.

Once you log in and associate your AskFRED account, you'll be able to instantly see a large portion of your past fencing bouts. See your entire AskFRED history and statistics based on it. Take a look at your cumulative win percentage per weapon across multiple seasons to track your improvements. See how well you've done against a specific fencer over the years. Apply complex filters to your entire fencing history in order to answer your own burning questions about your fencing without having to leaf through hard-copy fencing journals to research it yourself.

With your account set up, you can add tags and notes to your bouts so that you can remember important information about what happened. Use it just like your regular fencing journal, only this one is much more organized and easy to get meaningful information from.

Now that you have bouts and notes, take 14meters on to go. You can access 14meters via any smartphone for a special mobile interface, and view your notes on the strip. While you're waiting for your pool or DE to begin, read up on your past performance with your upcoming opponent. Check all of your notes and get yourself ready to win!

All that data is great for you, and its also great for your coach to see, as well. You're able to input a special Coaching Key that gives your coach special permission to view your entire bout history so that they can keep track of your progress too! To obtain a Coach Key, a coach must sign up for a Premium Account and follow the instructions in the Coaching section.

Also with a Premium Account, you can add custom bouts by hand. Enter in whatever you want, and it'll get treated like a standard bout, so that you can track bouts that happen at practice or at events that don't make their bouts available to us.

Becoming a Better Referee

The Referee Trainer is currently under redevelopment. We're improving it to help train people better with becoming awesome at refereeing.

The Collaborative Referee Exam will help you prepare yourself for the referee seminar and exam. It works a lot like flash cards for the current FOC Referee Exam Study Guide. We don't provide you with the correct answer, but you're able to see what other people think. Be careful, though -- sometimes the popular answer is actually the wrong answer (based on an analysis we did on the answers provided).

The Video Practice section (Coming Soon) will help you hone your calls and see how they line up with the top international referees. Practice your refereeing skills while sitting around at home. It works a lot like the Collaborative Referee Exam, except you'll see video clips instead of questions. Watch the video, make a call, and see how you line up with the call made by the referee.
